Alexandra Gardner

Born in 1945, Alexandra Gardner studied at The Glasgow School of Art from 1963-68, and lectured there from 1968-89. She has been the recipient of numerous awards including prizewinner, International Drawing Biennale, Cleveland (UK), The Lauder Award by The Glasgow Society of Women Artists, Travelling Award to Italy by The Lady Artists’ Trust Fund (Scottish Arts Council) and The Paper Boat Award, Mayfest (Scotland on Sunday).

She has had many solo exhibitions at home and abroad, the latest being the series of paintings based on Scottish Opera’s prodiction of La traviata. Her work is held in many private and corporate collections which include The Royal College of Physicians, Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, The Fleming Wyfold Art Foundation, Volvo Sweden and The Royal Bank of Scotland.
