Born in Athens in 1942, George Printezis studied cinema staging and worked for the Greek film industry, as an asistant director.Since childhood he had a genuine talent for drawing and painting. In 1968, he moved to France following the Greek military coup. He worked for 3 years for Olympic Airways and that’s when he started painting.
He returned to Athens to get married and start his career at SABENA Airlines, where he became Assistant Station Manager. After 25 years with the Airline he was decorated by the Belgian Government for his services. At the same time he was painting and travelling around the world.
When retired, he moved to Scotland, mainly for family reasons (his only son was a lecturer at the Glasgow University).
He had a lot of solo and group exhibitions in Glasgow, Greenock, Blairmore, Arbroath, Athens and London. Many of his works belong to private collectors in Scotland, Greece, France, Germany, England and U.S.A.
The main characteristic of his work is colour, geometry and mathematics. Bright colours but not shocking. He also likes to ensure that no two works are the same. Sometimes he paints the frame or takes the image outside the frame. He always makes himself the difficult constructions especially the 3D ones.
